Other than catastrophic failure of some kind; upper and lower wiring harness and A/C evaporator. Those two items along can run towards two grand.

I have a 92 400E. Wiring harness and does the AC blow cold? Also, open the two distributor caps and look inside... a few hundred each to replace. How is the condition inside? Can cause stumbling... especially if moist out. That's why mine was surging and dying sometimes.

How many owners has the car had and where is it located?

Mine had 159k on it, 1 owner, S. California, always serviced at dealer... bought from a smog shop for $3,050.00. Aside from the aftermarket wheels installed when new, everything was stock and worked great. Put stock wheels back on it and love it! Added about 2,500 miles since I got it in August.

I will be looking at a local 400E soon.
What should the nominal combustion chamber compression readings be?
What should the fuel pressure from the main line be?
How many Hg should the vacuum read at idle, and how steady should I expect it to be?
I have all the tools and I will take them with me to inspect the car.
he car had recently passed VA smog and inspection.

Thank you
Drew
