It has brake assist? I thought the R171 had conventional ABS non-electronic-wizardry brakes with no brake assist garbage which plagued the E-Class in terms of weirdness and feel.

My E320 has brake assist, and you honestly wouldn't know it. The brakes are powerful and progressive with plenty of feel. I don't take it on the track though.

Whats "Gas Guzzler Tax" ?

If you wait until after the election in May, it's what Gordon Brown will probably introduce for any car over a certain emission limit which the government will decide. And since the recently announced efficiency rating scheme for new cars (groups A to F) has decreed that even a lowly Audi A4 1.6 is in group F, the naughtiest group, that means anything worth having will be taxed []
