I use 3000 miles/Mobil 1 5W-30/Myself and dealer for FSS.

I will change at 1000 miles then every 3000 miles. I don't put that much milage on my car so I'm using 3000 miles instead of FSS, right now with 320 miles on the odo, FSS says I have 9600 miles till an oil change. Ummm, yea, I don't think so.

5k/Mobil 1/Dealer (and myself in the future) ... more
Last time I went to the dealer (Park Blvd.
in Palo Alto, CA), and they told me that
they are authorized to use Mobil 1 5W-40
or 10W-40, but not 0W-30, 5W-30, or 10W-30.
Did any one hear about this from their
dealership?

Thanks.
Does it not invalidate the warrantly if the dealer does not do it ???

No, but it will make the car ineligible for a M-B extended warranty.

Brian, please clarify. Are you saying that...

we cannot change our own oil at all, or that we just can't change it when FSS says it's time?
I would think we could change it as often as we like, between FSS's, and as long as the dealer does the A and B services when FSS lights up we're okay.

That's why I let the dealer do the scheduled services, and I do an oil change myself in between.

You can change yourself as often as you like, but the dealer must do the FSS _scheduled_ services.

FSS/Mobile 1/Dealer

I plan to just follow the factory recommendations on oil and schedule.

You're only talking about the extra optional warranty, correct?
