LOL .. you're a funny guy. Great polls !

My answer is nope. Take care of your car and floor it all you want and it is fine. It may cause premature wear on your tranny, but I still dont think flooring it would do it. Beating on your truck is a different story though, and yet another poll for another day. LOL

P.S- If you decide to sell those siderunners in the NEAR future drop me a PM. I'll pay you good cash for them. [;)]
I have a brand new 01 ML430 tranny that the dealer gave me before my warranty was over, so my tranny is prefect

but I don't know sometimes its like what can happen, if it caused damage wouldnt it be announced somewhere i've never heard on an offical car manufacture say its bad, but then for ONE example I was reading the SLR McLaren forum and they had a clip of a E55 vs SLR and someone said that first 50 miles on the SLR are the hardest years of its life, making hardest sound like it would break

I dunno, just once u hit 6000rpm going up a 15 degree hill while flooring it, I love the V8 growl its amazing, but it seems like its coming at an expense, and im not talking about MPG [:)]
I had an 00 430 and I drove it like I stole it for 46k miles. Now I have an 05 500SE, but I haven't floored it yet, only has 1880 miles on it! Gotta break them in right, then go for it. They have a 6000 RPM limiter you know, so they're hard to hurt. OHC engines don't have the valve train problems that pushrod engines have, The only 112 and 113 engine failures I've heard of were from sludge from dino oil, not rpm! You think a 430 growls, try a 500 or a 55. Reminds me of a 396 Chevelle I once had!! [8D]
LOLOLOLOL:
As crazy as this sounds, I love to gun the 430. Last week me and my bud took his ML out for a few nice sprints[:0] His check engine light had been on for 3 weeks in a row. By the time that we finshed a few 0-60 sprints, the light was off[)]
I loved to gun my ML430, but that might of been why i had to replace my transmission.. Who knows!! I still do it though [:D]
What kind of flooring are you going to install?

I would recommend ripping out the back seats and laying in 2 inch shag carpet on top of a good pad tacked to plywood.

I will send you a "Don't Laugh, Your Daughter May Be Inside" bumper sticker. Check with the Oregon DMV to see if the license plate "SIN BIN" is available.
I am sorry. I misunderstood the question.

Flooring your ML is a good idea under certain circumstances.

If a member of the Lake Oswego Crips tries to "jack your ride"

Floor it.

If you happen to have a well endowed passenger wearing a white tank top and carrying a full bucket of water...

FLOOR IT!

Flooring it is also useful when you want to see how low your MPG can be (according to the display)....WOW...6.8 MPG.....COOL!

Yes, not just bad but very bad.....

extra stress on engine and drive line during spirited driving inevitably leads to shortened life span before something breaks.
Simple matter of physics.
Bigger questions are does it matter / will you notice it ?
Doesn't matter if you don't plan on keeping the ML too long. Will you notice the shortened life span, probably not - unless you're very agressive & unlucky.
LOL GREEN!!!!!!!!!
im talking about the occasional flooring 0-40 ish
I was disappointed by the lack of acceleration

in my stock ML430 and floored it al the time. Now that I have driven her 10K miles with the supercharger[78K miles on the odo today] I find I do not have to floor it to get the response I wanted so less wear and tear in the end! I do floor it 0-60 occasionally and that is much fun. The real gain is when I'm already going 40-60 and want to pass someone with ease. I highly recommend it if you have $15,000 burning a whole in your pocket...
no big deal
just don't floor it after it's been standing overnight in a -# temperature
good info

lol I just noticed this comment "what kind of flooring are you going to install" I love u dirt&sky
As long as the car is engine and tranny is nice and warmed up. I usually go easy on the 1st gear then I'll WOT on the 2nd and after.
I just used the WOT yesterday, at about 40mph, I could definetly feel the difference, any estimated temps before I should gun it?, always fun to do a little bad teenage driving right after school (after its been sitting for awhile) but I know its not the best idea
