Okay. Here it is. My 2001 C 240 is in the shop now. It has a 5 volt block in the electrical system. They are saying that it is due to me adding aftermarket HID's and also a radio. Ive had these aftermarket parts in my car for 3 months now and no problems and all of a sudden my car is not working at all. Has anyone experienced this? Who has any of these aftermarket parts? Any problems? Any advice for me please?? thanks a lot

joe

Just what is a '5 volt block'? Can the dealer explain exactly why the aftermarket equipement is responsible for the problem? Sounds like they are trying to say its not a warrenty problem. The only problem that I'm aware of is that the after market eq may not draw the same current as the OEM, causing some sort of fault code but I'm not an expert.

The dealer took two days to intall the OEM CD changer in my brand new C230. They said it wasn't getting the correct 'wake up' voltage. Problem was in the wiring harness.
