Hi i just bought a 1990 190e 2.6 and ive been loving every minute of it. when i bought the car there was a quarter tank of old gas and it wouldnt start i siphoned old gas and replaced the filter and the pumps. it was driving fine for two weeks until today i stopped at the gas station and it wouldnt start up again its cranking no fuel is getting through i cant hear the pumps kick on anymore. i dont know what to do because they are both brand new. any ideas please tell me im at a loss

wow ok yes im not getting any power to the pumps so im going to check the relay tomorrow after work.
ps i love that guy and his mercedes lab coat i want one!
He sells the coats on his web site in 40r and 44r only. I am going to get one though !!

Update please read!!!!!!!!!!

hello everyone im here with an update! I had the car towed to a shop near my house and its been there over a week i finally went there tuesday to see what the problem was and the guy said he thought it was the relay but he wanted to test it first. heres the kicker: he didnt know what pins were for the fuel pumps! i had to tell him pins 1 &2 so he jumps them and said the pumps came on. ok so he ordered a new mas relay puts it in says its starts right up then he said he went to start it again and it wouldnt start. so this morning he said it started six times in a row!
so i get out of work thinking im picking up my car and now hes like he doesnt think its the relay its a bad wire!!!!!!!!! wtf is going on? i dont think he knows what hes doing does anyone agree? Im about to just have the car towed back to my house.

yeah this guy sucks im getting my car out of there tomorrow.

Is this guy an Indie MB or at least German car guy? Use the recommended shop link here.

It is not worth wasting time and money on someone who says they know "cars". MB is not your average car. I use a couple and they are MB specialists and I am 100% confident and trust in them and refer friends to them as well.


Most of the easy stuff I do myself with lots of help here. Keep us updated on how it is going.

I'm realizing this now. The fuel pumps and filter I did on my own but this problem has got me going crazy I still have my old mas relay in the car now it's starting and driving with the new ovp just now my fuel Oil pressure and temp gauges aren't working along with the dash lights. But it is running a lot smoother.

OK here's the latest update. Car is starting and driving with new ovp replaced fuses 9&10 gauges are working again. Figured I'd just replace all the fuses while I'm at it. Working OK now we'll see how it goes.

New news everyone!

ok so ive been driving the car all weekend went up to the cape and back. I just got home, shut the car off, went back outside to move it and it wouldnt start. So it appears to be a hot starting problem instead of an electrical problem like the other mechanic told me. I dont know if thats better or worse. Any ideas?
