1989 560 SEC Euro

I stumbled upon the connector shown below, I could not find the other half however. does anyone know what this could possibly be? For reference the connector is located in front of the brake booster and to the right of the HVAC fuse strip. Note that there is only a single conductor within the round connector. Sort of looks like the round connector in the back of the speedo..

Are there MB part numbers on the 'knurled' cap? It looks to have something attached and is keyed so as to make it go but one way...

What colors(s) are the wire(s)?

I have no idea yet.

Does look a lot like that speedo connector on the back of the cluster doesn't it. I recognised it form that, but its not on either of my cars anywhere other than rear of cluster.
