Guys,

I am back again asking for some help with my SEC. I have two things I need advice/help with. First is my suspension.....

I have replaced my rear accumulators and flushed the hydraulic system with factory parts and fluid. I can't seem to resolve a clunk in the rear over consecutive bumps. When driving and going over bumps, I get a clunk in the rear. Kind of sounds like having a brick in the trunk. I have checked all components except the rams themselves. My research says they are just rams... No real "shock" ability. I have checked the links/bushings etc... Ride height is 13.4 inches on both sides from center of rim....

The other is in regards to cold start idle. When first started, no matter what temperature... Idle is about 750 at idle. It slowly increased to about 950. I have replaced ALL intake gaskets/hoses/plenum gasket/lines/elbows/IAC... Again all with factory parts from Mercedes. Runs great otherwise. Just high idle...

Hi there, not really sure about the 1st issue. However, have you checked the voltage at the ICV? I had a similar issue and did all of the same things. Changed all the vacuum lines, hoses, etc. My solution was to replace the ICM. Problem solved. Good luck.

Best Regards,

Todd

Sometimes something that sounds like a brick in the trunk is just a brick in the trunk. Take out the spare, the plastic support spool and the tool kit. And, of course, every item in the trunk. Road test.

On your rams, there are 1 inch thick bushings on either side of the chassis where the top of the ram bolts on under the seats. There is also a bushing that is on the bottom of the ram where it connects underneath IIRC. It used to be that you could replace that but the later model GII do not is its a new unit again, IIRC. What is the status of your sway bar links as looseness of the originals can clunk. They are cheap and plastic, but there are metal ones off another body style that fit. Search sway bar links and you may find them, polished silver. So you have new accumulators, must be bushings on rams at inside and or outside, or broken or loose links.

I did that and my clunk improved, but my left link was cracked.

Wow!! You guys ROCK!!!

I have check current ay ICV...3.9 at idle....The other thing that I noticed is that if I disconnect the vacuum to the EZL, the idle seems to go to normal. Does that seem right???

Also... Thanks for the info on the bushings on the rams. I will have to check those. I thought those were only on w140's..... Does anyone know if they are available separately for the 126/SEC??

I have them for the top of the rams, parts.com but I do not think it is a replace item on our later models for the bottoms. If your boot is torn, that's a potential that the bushing is shot at the bottom, you have to look. I trust they do not leak, but if you eliminate all the others, rams are 350 new so check it out first.

They look like the rubber bushings on normal shocks. The ones for the w140 look like a "capsule" of sorts. I will take the rear seat out and check those.... Good possibility....

Any thoughts on why the idle drops to normal with the vacuum disconnected at the EZL?

Wish I knew, hopefully others will chime in. Being electrical, is the EZL.... DO you have a spare to swap in and check? Maybe...... No, I have no clue.
