I am looking at a 2007 c280 and I was just wondering if someone could lookup the vin and see if it has the balance shaft issue that I've heard about.

Hi.
Your car has the M272 which do have a possibility for Balancer shaft failure...Best V6 engines were the M112 on earlier W203.
Doesn't mean all M272 engine are bad , plenty there in good working order

FWIW: I have two vehicles with M272 engines, and in my experience they are fantastic if taken care of properly. Once has 230,000 miles and the other 144,000 miles. Still going strong!

As long as it's not in the balance-shaft problem range, I agree, the M272 engine is good. Personally, I could do without the 7-speed transmission that it's typically mated with (the more robust 5-speed would be my preference there), but the engine is solid.
