I drive a 1993 190e 1.8 european version and I seem to have a lot of pinking when driving at different speeds, any ideas?
Also sometimes after long journeys with the a/c on, the engine refuses to shut off even though I have turned the key off.

if the engine is running on after you turn off ignition it is definately timing try the distributor i know you can turn that backwards and forwards just a fraction to retard and advance the timing without touching the timing chain i used to do it on my peugout 309gti a few years back dont know if its same with the mercs though
Re: Three Types!

I am using original merc plugs and there is no carbon on valves. I have purged the injectors and done a complete tune up but the problem is still there. The garage also think I might have filled up with contaminated fuel, so my next step is to drain all the fuel and fill up again.
Has anyone of you had problems with your cat convertor? if so what are the symptons?
