As per subject, does anyone have a picture of the area around the top of the oil filter on an M117 V-8 SL engine?

I am looking for possible sources of an oil leak and someone suggested the hose connection for hose that goes from engine to the oil cooler. But, from manual, it doesn't look like it connects to the adaptor that goes between the filter and the block.

I'm confused. You have a 1973 350SL. that should be an M116 engine. Sorry I don't have pictures. they did away with the oil cooler in the later years.

It's actually a 1972 350SL 4.5 (That's what MN call them these days to avoid confusion! But same as a '73 450SL.

I suspect Rowdie may have a pic of his old engine - I have searched here, but can't find it.

You suspect correctly.:D
Hey thanks - I knew you would come through!

The oil runs down just about where the LH lower adapter bolt is. Bolt or adapter gasket could have a small leak or otehrwise, it must be coming down from above.

I will clean the area up and see what I can see. Luckily it is a very small leak. Dino oil instead of Syntec may seal it!

Thanks again!
