Hi everyone. Yesterday I took some pictures of my black SLK 55. I'm not much of a photographer, and the car is not perfectly clean, but I reckon these pics will still be of interest to folks here. I also have a couple of pictures of my "D". [:D]

Neat car(s). I have always wondered...how the heck to you maintain the outside of a delorean. Do you wax it? Or is it like a refrigerator and you brush it with a scouring pad?

Wow BlackHawk, it really is a big coincidence that we'll have 2 of the same rare cars! I hardly ever come across fellow DeLorean owners so this is a rare treat.

Sure, I'd love to see pics. My DeLorean is also a 1981, and it has the older model features like the radio antenna in the windshield and the gas flip top on the hood. It does have an updated stereo with an MP3/CD headunit as well as a few other minor mods like tinted windows. The interior is completely reupholstered because the first owner didn't take good care of the car at all... I bet your DVD is sweet!

It's like cleaning a stainless steel refrigerator as you guessed. Fingerprints show up big time, but cleaning is actually quite easy! I've used Windex with excellent results. The previous owner said you could brush it with a scouring pad to retouch the grain of the steel, but I haven't needed to do that. The car is actually pretty filthy in these pics because it has been sitting in my garage for quite some time.

can you tell me if that is metalic black or just the plain one?
It is the regular black. When clean and waxed, it has amazing gloss and a very deep shine. It looks incredible!

ok, here are the pictures! I didnt open up the dvd screen, I will get a pic of that asap, a little busy right now, I also forgot to mention I got 6000k xenon fog lights in the front, I highly suggest them, they are legal and also low enough for no one to complain, its the whole mechanism so it runs around $400 for the pair, they look like they came stock with the car, I had a dealer put cut the bottom spoiler and put them in, looks STOCK! I will get you those pictures too but for now here we go! I got this car in 81 brand new, as of around 2002 its a brand new car, have you heard of delorean one in los angeles? I had a brand new engine put in, new interior new everything basically, going down again this april to get a few more things done!

here are the pics!

Wow, your DeLorean looks fantastic! Yours appears to be in much better condition than mine. You weren't kidding when you said it was "new everything basically". The gray interior is very nice, and all of the black plastic parts look new! I also noticed that your doors don't droop! I think that I need to adjust the torsion bars on mine because they are drooping badly. It's worse in cold weather though. They were fine this past summer.

I've heard of DeLorean One, but LA is on the other side of the country for me! I also know of a place in Texas that services the cars, but that is also too far. I can fix a few things myself, but I take it to a local shop for other problems. I'd like to do a restoration, but I just don't have the time since I work a lot and also have very demanding hobbies.

Oh, and the fingerprint thing is extremely annoying! That's what I use the Windex for! It is perfect for a quick spot cleaning.

Hey that DeLorean seems amazing. Did they come in color other than silver?
DeLorean's are stainless steel and have NO paint.

Oh wow.

Why they sell car like that? Yes I know the factory is gone but why?
Do you mean why did DeLorean design his car with an expensive stainless steel body? To be unique and extraordinary (plus you don't have to wax it[:D]).

It was featured in the "Back to the Future" movies...and it is just a sweet car. The steel, the doors, the everything just looks....well cool. Oh and they are rare.
