Yes, another stupidly easy posting.

I Lube After EVERY Oil Change.

Yes, overkill perhaps. But with what I have heard for the replacement costs of these puppies..... Better Safe than Sorry!!

Be sure to THOROUGHLY clean the nipples before lubing.

The new shafts don't have a grease fitting, how do you grease them?

using compressed air for lubing the slip joint is dangerous! They should never get more than 3 to 4 (hand) pumps - otherwise the shafts are pressing against the bearings inside the transfer case. Then you will have very expensive repairs.

Harald,

After all of these years, this is the FIRST time I have ever disagreed with you.

There is NO DIFFERENCE in the "VOLUME" of Grease dispensed, between a "Hand Pump" and a Pneumatic Gun.

3-4 Pneumatic Pumps is the exact same as 3-4 Hand pumps.... only easier for us "Flojo" Lazy types!

Someone asked the same question above...My shaft doesn't have grease fittings...so how do you grease it? It's a 2007 G500.

Clean off the dirt and I think you will find the cone shaped fittings shown in the first picture.
I'm not sure what year it was... 2006??, but they switched to the "Maintenance-Free" Propshafts. *NO* Grease Fittings. Brilliant, ehhhh???

Yeah. On the other hand, our E300 has 250K on a maintenance free shaft with no signs of play. Of course, we don't take it through creek crossings either.
