With 150,000 miles on the clock.... and since I was going to Re-Do my mother-in-laws brake system..... I went the very small extra step to do the wheel bearings while I was there.

One 150 Gram tube of Mercedes Grease, and new Inner Seals are all that is required (assuming the bearings are OK... which a vast majority of the time, they ARE!).

Be sure to give good "back and forth" Rotation of the Hub while doing the Tightening and Adjustments.... you want the bearings well seated.

Please see my "Front Brake Overhaul" Post for the Disassembly of the Calipers/Rotors, to get you to the Level of the Hub Job.

This is very helpful. I really appreciate the OP taking the time to photograph every step of the process.

I do have a question concerning the weight of grease in the bearing cap and wheel hub. These same weights are in the Bentley manual. Are these weights for each hub and cap or for both combined? I weighed out the grease and don't see how 60 grams will fit into the hub. I could only get about 30 g in there before it seemed like any more would just be pushed off when the hub was put on the axle. Since the two weights specified, 60 g and 15 g, total 75 g, and the tube of grease sold by MB weighs only 150 grams, if I were to put those volumes in each hub and cap that wouldn't leave any grease to pack into the bearings or inner seals.
