I ordered a new VAICO V30-4124 for my 2008 e350 4matic. I read where if you have a fair amount of oil in your intake that the PCV should be changed, Searched w211 PCV and this Vaico part came up.

It is nothing more than a housing with a hose port. Is there something else that makes up the PCV valve? In my day working at an auto parts store, PCV valves had a floating ball that acted as a check valve. I expected to see that in this part, but it is only a cover with a connection for a hose. Is this replacement part missing something?

Here is a better one for you, just changed it yesterday on my 2011 E350, same engine.
Yes that’s the cover and also another part under the cover.
It is called Oil Drip Pan and there is the part number in my pics. I’d go with original parts, they are not that expensive.
Hope this helps.

Very few. We didn't have a lot of failures with the M272 or M273. Being in Alabama, a hot climate, that probably helped things because I had nowhere near the issues that are commonly talked about in the forums.

On the M273 and M273, what I recall were the housing leaking oil in the rear and cam plugs. A few water pumps, a few coils, but basically a very solid engine.

You might not have had enough with enough mileage. Based on the reports on the forums the intake going seems to be from 80-140k or sometimes more. Probably changing the oil separator will get you closer to 140k than 80k.
