passenger side mirror question

I was looking at the side view mirrors on my 2006 SLK 350. I noticed that the driver's side mirror has a black gasket around the mirrored glass. The passenger's side mirror is a piece of glass with no gasket and the adjustment mechanism behind the glass is partially exposed. Just wondering--is the gasket missing from my passenger's side mirror or is that the way they all are?

Driver side is auto dimming and needs a gasket and the passenger side is not.
