My W220 S-Class has the SRS red light showing from time to time, especially when a passenger sits on the seat.
MB dealer told me it is due to the in-seat passenger weight sensor which turns the airbag on and off.
Please help me in getting MB part number for the spare part and some help in locating and replacing this part!

If you send me your VIN I will get the part number for you. Replacing the sensor is an akward job as it means removing the seat from the car and removal of the lower seat upholstery and the senser is located in the centre of the foam seat. It takes ages and patience to remove all the little rings that hold the upholstery in place.

Easy diy if

you have basic mechanical skill.

If you went to the dealer I ASSUME that they read the SRS codes and told you what was wrong. This is key and the first step in ANY SRS issue.

So, if you search the 210 forum for my post on srs seat sensor replacement you will find a step by step picture series on this replacement.

But just a word on jumper wiring. The sensor has a chip in ut that 'talks' to the srs computer. This makes hot wiring this device all most imposible. Also, SRS parts are 'jesus' parts and should never be modified in any way.

Finally, I got my new sensor from MB with the part number from the old one. And they will record the serial number of the replacement to you vin number. Cost about 175US$. My part number will be for a 210.

Also, you can do this job by laying the seat all back and pulling the cover while in the car but I have never done it that way. One of the MB tech's said he does it in the car.

2 me it is an easy diy and kind of fun.
hope this helps
do go to the 210 forum and look for the srs post.

Hello Eric,

I have a very similar problem with my V220. Can you provide with the relevant part number for the sensor pad?
My vin is: VSA 638 294 132 992 28

Thanks a lot in advance.
