Hi all,
While at a stop light the other day, the passenger seat of my 1998 e320 wagon began to move on its own. The seat began moving back and headrest moved up then down at the same time. A couple days ago it did a similar thing with my wife sitting in it...just started moving out of nowhere. My main concern it that it could happen while I have the baby's car seat in the back and it would smash his legs. Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions?

It sounds like the switch on the door became dirty or is possibly failing. I'd try cleaning it with some electrical contact cleaner.

Someone posted it before, it's possible due to poor connection from the connectors underneath the seat. Could it be paranormal? Put a bible in the car. Just joking.

Yeah, the first time I saw it out of the corner of my eye, I thought I was losing it! I bet an Exorcist is a lot cheaper than a MB mechanic...so hopefully it is a ghost!!! Do they sell Holy Water at Kragen?

If the seat starts to spin like an old Grand Prix seat, Start the praying hard and fast.

Had fun ghosts in my e-320. Passenger window opening by itself in a rainstorm. After banging on the switch and rolling it up multiple times, it finally stayed up. Then you are afraid to use the window again.

Evil Spirits COME OUT!

Blessings.

could the window be due to short circuit also (in rainstorm) from the switch?

Wish I knew.
It never did it again. It freaked me out in the middle of the night on a road trip to Michigan, from Chi-town. This car has had a few of those electrical gremlins. That was the strangest though.

Just be careful funny electrical issues may indicate your battery is almost due.

Interesting you should bring that up.
It wasn't long after that that I did do a battery replacement.

Also a Jesus freak. It was on that trip I re-dedicated, but not because of satanic car influences (ha),
Eph 2: 8-9 (how true)

Dear brother Aardvark,

Nice to hear that you have rededicated.

Have you reset everything after you change the battery? Perhaps that's the scientific reason that the window is moving up and down by itself too. And you have just reset that window accidentally (simply by pressing up till it close tight and hold it for a few seconds). Praise the Lord. 2 Corinthians 12:9.

Could you please fill up your info like the model, year, location under the user CP link?

Henry
