You know the little plastic cover over the sun visor hinge above the windshield. I had to buy one four years ago. I thought I remembered it costing some god awful price like $25.00! Well the damn thing is broken again due to heat from the sun and the absolute crap plastic MB uses.

I went to the stealer parts department. A nice guy asked what he could do for me. I laughed and said he could sell me the part for less than the original $25! Then it was his turn to laugh. Retail price from the stealer is $57.00!

Yeah, I know, it's only $57. It could be and ECU or EZL. Well it still trips my trigger!

Anybody you know producing these things in their garage??

What a F***** joke. That is outragous for a small piece of plastic. Do you know where else you might get one. Both of mine is broken.

There's a member on the 107 forum, Scottinsocal, who has moled a few items. Check his posts and you'll find a step by step of him molding some new key heads.

Sounds like a part that might be of similar difficulty to make.

Ehhh thats not even bad I was looking into a new driver side door panel, the stitched leather wrapped one for a 600 and they are $1800 a piece the little triangle pieces that cover the wiring for the side mirrors are $75. Take a look at the MSRP on a m120 crate engine or a new panoramic hard top 58000 IIRC for the engine and like 16,000 for the top.

I looked everywhere in the aftermarket area and nothing. Most aftermarket guys are mechanical only or have a very few interior and body parts. It is disappointing, because MB should not be able to get away with this crap. I don't care what the damn Euro/Dollar exchange rate is.

We have to start getting used to it. R129 has been labeled as a modern classic.

In few years, you'll only be able to get parts from the MB Classic center. The dealer will then look like a charity organisation.

A Pano roof was a mere £2212.77 + VAT = £2600 as an optional extra on my SL500 back in '97. I guess you didn't get the standard roof, but still a bit of a bargain compared to the aftermarket price. I have also been quoted £440 by MB (UK) for a sunvisor.

Why are you approaching the dealer? So that part number, mine broke too. I found this thread:
http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r129-sl-class/1314682-how-replace-r129-sun-visor-trim.html

Here's the part number for black:

I was getting some lights I damaged at the dealer... I asked how much the 6.0 V8 AMG motor would cost at the dealer..

He sent off an email, and the next time I came back he presented me with a quote of..
