Need to find a parts daigram for 78 450sl. Took out the passenger side window mechanisms to fix and there are a couple of parts that "fell" when I took it out and not sure how or where they go when putting everything in again. I am certain that I will be getting to other areas and just have not been able to locate parts diagrams for the vehicle ??

Also, have not found a service manual describing the removal and repairs to the window mechanism ??

Thanks......

Your in luck. I wasn't able to find a diagram for your exact model car but Kent Bergsma over at Mercedes Source has a long instructional video on his website for repairing window mechanisms. See if it pertains to the problem your having.

Ben,

Thank you for the reference. My R107 is not mentioned and I would probably not buy the video.

Yep, my bad on that part. I'll try one more thing. May not pertain to your actual problem but I found some diagram picures taken from an R107. Not the problem your having but they seem to somewhat show what the window mechanisms should do, what they look like.

Rob,
got home & dug up a couple of pics for you:

orange- fore & aft

red- overall height up & down

for the up & down adjust blocks on regulator, then use check stop for fine tune- really get the blocks as close as you can first, once i looked at my pics it all came flooding back...

sorry no pic of tilt...

the lurker

I think I will post these to the component locations if they are not already there.

Wish I could be more of a help...

The metal "L" bracket has lost its home.... Window seems to work well up and down without but would hate something to happen later on ??? It came from some where inside the door at the top middle ???

Also, found almost a dozen of the round plastic "thingys". Never seen similar before to my recollection !!!!

While this is not my first rodeo, I have not been able to find good parts diagrams for the door or a diy for what I did.... removing the window scissors mechanism and motor..... Unfortunately, had I known the real problem: The channel block guides came off of the glass both front and back..... It would have taken a few hours rather than several days of frustration..... Not my first time at being frustrated in working on classics !!!

The metal bracket is a vertical travel stop for the window that is screwed to the inner door skin, there should be two of them and they contact the aluminum sliders that came off. Epoxy and some glass tape are used to reinstall them, careful with the location .

Bill,

Thanks.... why epoxy and glass tape if it screws on.... I "assume" the location is at one of the two up stops as shown on the photo by Roncallo... Sy channel blocks are is good condition and was able to use the set screws on the front block but have not been able to use the set screw on the back one so far... Will figure that out.....

The screws are for adjusting the tension on the inner plastic shoe, the shoe is the guide that travels on the rail, it's the other grove that attaches to the glass
