Great thread!

One question, though, on the .739 x 7/8 x 1" O ring, often referred to as size 018?

Everything I was able to find shows this is actually a 3/4" x 7/8" ring. The 7/8" x 1" x 1/16" o ring (#020) isn't .739, it's .864.

So, is it the#020 or the #018 , or perhaps they are supposed to be metric sized?

Now that I look back at my original post #11 on O-ring sizes it's a bit confusing and some have kindly pointed that out to me. So to clarify here is what I use in the repair process in case you want to have a go yourself:
For those who don't want to please PM for details and I can help do this work for you.
BUNA 90 O-rings from APG
H90018 .739" ID x .070" C
H90015 .551" ID x .070" C or V90015
H90014 .489" ID x .070" C
H70013 .426" ID x .070" C
H90016 .614" ID x .070" C

This list currently does not include the large o-ring that seals to solenoid to the block as it's doesn't wear.

Some solenoids use what look like PTFE white spacers along with the O-rings while other blocks have spacers made of square cut rubber rings. If yours have these rubber spacers, which sometimes are damaged presumably on original assembly, the parts numbers for these are as follows;
APG #SH70013 , #SH70014 , #SH70015 , #SH70016
The square cut rings can be tricky to install without splitting them. You can hear them split on reassembly.
Quantities are a couple per solenoid.

I tried to get these O-rings from APG but apparently they don't care about getting new customers! You have to register on their website before you can place an order or even see what the price is for what your ordering. I registered a week ago and never got a email reply. So 3 days ago I emailed their customer service to see what happened to my registration. 24hrs later some lady emails me back and said she would forward my information to "someone who handles my geography" ? 2 Days later still have heard from no one and still can't sign on to their website and place an order. I gave up on them and went to Orings and More | Affordable and Quality Gaskets and Seals and had them all ordered in 10 min. The p/n's from their website are as follows if anyone wants to do the same. There is a min qty of 50 each but they are less then 2 bucks for 50.
BUNA 90 O-rings from Oringsandmore.
020B90 .739" ID x .070" C
015B90 .551" ID x .070" C
014B90 .489" ID x .070" C
013B90 .426" ID x .070" C
016B90 .614" ID x .070" C

That's plenty enough to do the front and rear blocks on several cars and not have to worry about breaking one or two or dropping a couple into that mysterious hole in your garage where stuff goes never to be seen again.

When you get hoses done at hydraulic repair shop are they able to duplicate the metal portion of the hoses and provide metric fittings ?
Came across this thread and wanted to revive it.
The area I live in is pretty rural and has quite a few farms around. As a result in the past few years there have been quite a few Hydraulic shops opening up to service all the farm tractors.
It got me wondering when I had to have a hose made for one of my tractors. I dropped it off in the morning and about 2hrs later guy calls me up and says it's done come and get it. Cheap too. 1/2" X 36" line cost me $30.
Has anybody ever tried this route...Taking a Mercedes line and having an independent shop custom make a replacement?
