Sorry Woz, I have no idea. Mine does that when I go through deep water or in the car wash, but it goes away almost immediately. I would guess that one of your sensors has shorted out or has been disconnected. Have you had any minor bumper incidents lately?

I have a similar problem - each time I am starting my 2005 ML270CDI my parktronic just goes crazy. Front right sensor is showing 4 lights and is from time-to-time jumping to 6 lights (red ones come on!) and is making noise. Like a real disco! 
I have been at my dealers once and they told they have changed one parking sensor, which solved the problem for some months. Now it is back again - in the same section.Can this really be happening?

I have got the same problem but its the left side, the lights keep lighting up all the way to red and make a beeping sound. Its intermittant and goes on and off while driving. I think that one of the actual sensors has a problem and will need replaced.
Just wanted to know how much they charged.
