Hi all ... after some time. I have one systematical trouble with my handbrake. I replaced its self adjustment mechanism long time ago like advised in EPC. Actually the new mechanism came with new brake shoes (original MB part). If I remember well then this mechanism was modified so now it is different than original mechanism which came with the car. I can adjust the parking brake well, so everything is ok, pedal is ok, braking effect is satisfactory. However the trouble is that this does not last. After 2 weeks the parking brake pedal is "loose" again and the effect of the parking brake is significantly worse. And I can start the excercise from the very beginning: lifting the car, removing the wheel, adjusting the small wheel with teeth on the self adjusting mechanism. Very annoying. The problem exists from the first day after replacement of old self adjusting mechanism with a new one.
What is the problem? Is the replacement of the self adjusting mechanism actually much worse than original? To me the mechanism looks ok, the corresponding springs are ok, etc. In this moment parking brake shoes are not original MB part, however like indicated above, I have the same problem with original shoes, too.
