Hello,

This piece is broken and loose. My indy said it'll be $650 to replace since the part has other components (headlight control switch I presume). I'd try finding a black one at a junkyard but I assume there were so few SLs made that I'd be lucky to find any much less one with my color. Any suggestions?

Thanks Zephyr411! I spent some time searching junkyard parts online and didn't find any but ebay was a great idea. The red ones all have wear so I picked up a black 2005 one. Hopefully it'll fit. Appreciate the quick help!

Went with a black replacement since the red ones all had scuff marks on them. I always leave my headlamp switch set to auto but I guess others use theirs more. Looks ok against the red interior. Also had to buy

from a parts dealer since mine was broken and he replacement didn't come with this piece. Was a little difficult to get the screws back in since you have to pull the release lever to make room. Appreciate the help here.

Thanks Zephyr411! In my 20s I did modest work on my car like brake jobs and car stereo installations but living in a condo now in my 40s with this car I don't get to do much and I don't think I'm good at it anymore but it was nice that this little project worked out for well under $100 when my indy wanted several hundred more.

About to hit 95k miles soon and still loving this car. A neighbor bought a '16 SL400 for $50k based on seeing mine.

If you place washers that is larger than the holes in the original red parking brake/headlight piece i am sure that i will work out fine

Just be careful not sticking your finger nails behind the washers when you release the park brake :)

I like that idea and it may work for others but mine was totally destroyed and I'm really glad I noticed that I needed that other glide piece since most of the ebay headlamp switch replacements dont' come with it.
