I just broke parking brake release handle. I was bit shocked, as this never happened on any of my previous (90' 80' 70') Benz, and I use this thing a lot. But, it is what it is… apparently pretty common with newer cars plastics.

I know some of you used J-B Weld (or equivalent) to fix this. So my question would be, not if it works but, how long would this kind of fix last. I'm in the habit to engage parking brake every time I park, I can't change that… muscle memory.

I don't mind paying $60-80 for new handle and, to be honest, I'd prefer to just replace it but… I recently had to replace accelerator cable and working down there (for an hour or so) is not my idea of fun. My back is growling at me already. So if I could avoid it…

How many pulls on the handle could I get with J-B Weld fix?

I use my parking brake all the time too to avoid the loud thud when shifting out of park on an incline.

I used gorilla epoxy putty and did it sitting in the seat utilizing pliers. seems like it will hold up for years so I can imagine jb weld providing a long term fix as well.

Also I think the handle is adhesived on from factory so maybe a new one isn’t necessary

Thanks, that's good to know.

Funny how the habit works, after I broke the handle I kept remanding myself not to use parking brake… 15 minutes later I parked the car and the brake was on before I could even say it… shit, go get the pliers.

You guys just don’t know your own strength. 😁 What do they put in cereal over in the US? Or is it Hershey bars?

Greeks are naturally strong, eh Albert? 😉
