The sun roof on our 2002 C230K coupe won't work.
Right motor (passenger side) works, operates the black shades open and closed no problem.
Left motor, (driver's side) makes a click noise, motor does not turn.
I have had the inside center console on roof off, I know how to crank it all
open and closed using hex wrench. All opens and closes with no obstructions
manually, but motor won't work. It is NOT the fuse, as the shades work (right motor), but left motor for the roof itself does not turn, but there is a single click sound as if it tries to engage.
Any suggestions? Could it be the switch itself? Motor? Any reset buttons I don't know about? How much to have MBZ work on this? Anything the layman can do?

Possibly the relay. Check around. The seats can do a similar noise like this, but usually ends up being the fuse. Check the relay to make sure it is good. Mercedes will probably just charge half an hour labor for this as it should just be a small problem.

Now it WORKS!

We had heard of "resetting" the switch for the sun roof months ago, but we must have been holding/pushing the button in the wrong position. Here is what we discovered today quite by accident or inspiration from God or whatever: With engine running, put finger behind the button and pull down to close the black screens completely over front and rear panoramic glass panels and then continue to pull down on the button gently for 5 to 10 seconds. We heard a "click" and then pushed button again (back) to open black screens and when they fully retracted then roof began to open!! So we opened it all the way, closed it all the way... all works perfectly. Wow... we shut off car, got out, locked it, unlocked, got back in, tried it again and it works. Praise the Lord! It was really cold this winter with snow and stuff and maybe something froze and needed to be "reset" and now it works.
