I have a 1996 C-220... 74,000 miles.... seems to run great. Occasionally the car is throwing a P1401 which I believe has to do with "EGR Lifting Sensor" ...

I have reset the code, however, it comes back every few weeks.

Can anyone shed some light on the meaning of this code or on what/where i should start looking, cleaning, replacing ...

As far as I can tell the vehicle runs great ...great gas mileage no other major problems. There may be a very slight vacuum leak since in summer the center A/C vents sometimes don't like to blow under heavy acceleration ...that's minor ( to me ) and works fine when I let off accelerator... all vacuum related items
( doors, headrests, trunk, etc. ) work fine.

Thanks

Don't know if this would help,

If its similiar you may want to take it off, try cleaning that and the EGR The sensor itself might need replacing if this is what you have. Doesn't sound like a major deal. B

Thanks for reply ...looks like it sits on top of EGR valve... guess I will check EGR and see if it is clogged ...gas mileage seems fine although idle when at stop light wavers 200 - 300 RPM.
