My check engine light is on in my 88 300E. I have been told it needs a new oxygen sensor(it has never been changed). Can someone tell me where it is on the engine, and is it a simple do it yourself job?

It's on the exhaust, not on the engine. If you jack up the car and look at the exhaust pipe right under the tranny, just before the catalytic converter, you'll see it right there in front of you, bolted on top of the exhaust pipe and connected with a wire. Just unbolt it, disconnect the wire (you have to remove the passenger side's carpet to get to the plug) and bolt on a new one. Don't forget to attach the little heat shield after you're done [:D]

Hope this helps,
Shady

Six is right. It's actually pretty easy job. (i've seen it done myself). You just need a crimper and cutter. The part is cost from 80 - 120 depending the brand. it's about 2 hours job. don't go to the dealer, charge you arm and the leg.

Thanks for the info guys. I should have the part this week, and will try it myself.
