I am begining to notice that my car is begining to run a bit hot. I have not driven much recently but it does go up to about 100 degrees. It seems to rise a bit more at a stop and if I let it idle awhile. I think it might be the fan clutch. What do you all think and is there something else I should consider? If it is the clutch, is it pretty easy to change or should I take it in to my local shop to be diagnosed and repaired. Thank you.

I believe the fan has a viscous coupling, and it should be obvious if it is doing its job simply by watching it.

Are the auxiliary fans coming on? They should. These are the ones in front of the A/C condensder. They are controlled by the Automatic Climate Control.

Is a temperature sensor at fault? You can check the input to the controller by following this diagnostic procedure and accessing item #12: http://mercedesshop.com/shopforum/showthread.php3?t=86546
