Progress! I have managed to source all of the parts my mechanic needed so far - the piston kit took the longest, but is now in the mail. The new white wall tires are awesome (and made in Slovenia...).

Try this for fun: walk into your local auto bureau and announce "I would like to register my 1966 French moped!" It took 3 trips to the bureau today, a call from the local bureau supervisor to the Technical Services supervisor at the main office in Albany, and a quick visit to an Allstate agent...but my 46 y/o moped is now registered, licensed and insured in NY! Class B - no motorcycle license or inspection required, able to drive on local roads at my stately maximum speed of 25 mph.

Post some pics when you get a chance. It would be great to see your machine.

Just remember mopeds are like fat chicks. They may be fun to ride, but you don't want any of your friends to see you on one :D
