Although I've got my hands full with my 107, I'm considering buying a wagon for my wife (surprise Xmas gift). I'm here in the dealer lot after making a call. The dealer (and car) is 2.5 hours from my house, so I'm trying to make a quick decision on what to do next before leaving. It seems under $20k e500 4Matic wagons aren't exactly all over the place, at least not ones that have the power liftgate too.

Here's the 211 thread I posted.

You guys watched me buy a basketcase 107. Looking for sanity. I need to stay cool. :)

Frankly, the black one from the MB dealer you looked at last week sounded better. I know you're thinking about the power lift gate, but I wouldn't worry about that if you have fresh lift gate shocks on it, it shouldn't be hard to close... I would stay away from pre 2005 W211 from my research, go with 2005 and later. Airmatic suspensions can be a problem from my research, particular in pre 2005.

You can add a wooden steering wheel after the fact easily for about $450.

The black one sounded like a great opportunity to me. This white one, not so much.

JMHO.

I can't win. :) Dealer sold black one last night. This white one... I was baffled when I checked under the two sets of floormats in the back to find that there was no third row seats. I just learned that it was an option I guess. OMG

I missed a nice non-mb-dealer car that sold saturday too. This search might go on forever!

Yep, you gotta be patient, learn more about the 211s, that way, you know what are options or not, for instance. Then when you see the right one, you know to get it... that's the way to buy used.

I studied diesel 211s off and on for about a year..., and don't even get me started on 107s...

Patience is key to the best deal that will work for you...

Good move to walk away from the white one... stick to 2005 and beyond for sure, and patiently wait for the car you want, it will happen sooner than you think, maybe not before Christmas, but if you're gonna have it for a while, is Chriatmas gonna be the pressure factor?

You'll be good, nk, hang in there!

Thanks fellas! I'm hoping to check another in the NYC area tomorrow. It's a little fortunate that work has me on so many local trips these weeks.

I've talked to several Mercedes dealers in the surrounding areas, and I think they know what I'm looking for now. I expect they will give me a call if something comes in.

Thanks!

OK. I'm trigger happy again. Looking for advice from the trusty 107 forum members that have taught me more about cars than I thought I'd ever know. I think I have two good deals on the hook. I'm trying to decide between these two:
- 2004 e500 4Matic in my originally intended price range 72k miles (minor accident)
- 2006 e350 4Matic 51k miles that's going to cost me $7700 for CPO (or $9000+ w3yrWarranty)

Both are single owner, single MB dealer maintained, being sold at the dealer where maintained (if everything I was told is true).

Possibly the deciding factor:

Any suggestions?

PM me for links to cars if you really want to help me out.
