I got this French moped at an antique store on Cape Cod 4 years ago. 1966 Motobecane Mobylette Type AV88, 49.9cc. After sitting in my garage for 4 years, its' time has come. I've dropped it off with a one-man motorcycle repair/restoration shop here in my little village. I've been surprisingly successful finding parts on the internet, most here in the US. We're doing a mechanical/safety restoration only, leaving the paint, seat, etc intact.

Wow that is sweet. I missed out on a Puchs a few months ago for 100$. I love the puchs with star alloy rims. Good luck that thing rocks!

Very cool. You may be interested (if you did not know already) that this would be eligibile for AACA competition - as it is a vehicle over 25 years old. I suspect it would generate a lot of interest at an AACA meet - they love original vehicles and this is in great original shape. Glad you are not doing anything cosmetically.

I have a much less interesting 70s vintage Puch in my shed that was my father in law's, purchased new during one of the gas shortages then and used very little - he quickly moved into a small motorcycle. It's cosmetically mint, and I figure it does not take up much space, so I am just hanging onto it. I think about getting it running from time to time but have always had other things to do. The 50s - 60s scooters, mopeds and small motorcycles are pretty cool though.

Keep us updated, please! :)
