Swapped my steering gear and had to pull the pittman arm. Used a Harbor Freight Pittman Arm puller that promptly gave up and bent without budging the pittman. See pics. Rental from Advance auto worked fine.

So here is my list of Harbor Freight Tools that have failed me: Feel free to add your own crap tool experiences:
1. Pittman Arm Puller bends.
2. 6 ton heavy duty jack stands, Pittsburg (they release if you pull the bar with the full weight of the car on them; very dangerous design, somebody posted this elsewhere after a guy died).
3. Quick coupler set for air hoses (inconsistent sizes leak air).
4. Stainless steel solar light set- only about half actually light up.
5. 12 Volt magnetic towing light kit - magnet too weak they fall off.

There's a lot more but that all I can remember right now.

On my third HF Creeper and current one's set of middle wheels have broken
away from plastic.
I don't find these last very long but you can't beat the price.
I think HF has another one with metal frame that might hold
up better.

The metal frame one I got from pep boys (in the "big red" package when I got my first Mercedes ~2010) broke too. It's on that can be separated into two halfs for storage, and the cross-member welds broke. (Fortunately I was able to weld it back together.)

It is now time for the Harbor Freight class action lawsuit. At least get your $10 gift card.

BULL SHIT!

Ass usual the only people that will benefit are the attorneys. I never participate in these scams. Yes I said scams and Ass was not a typo.:bash::bash:

The pitman arm puller is rubbish. Mine broke after one use. They have some nice hand tools, the new 'professional' line of ratchets are pretty nice to use. I've had an earthquake impact that has lasted about 6 years and is just now due for replacement.

The SDS drill is kind of bad ass, i've used it to install a couple of 2 and 4 post lifts and it's held up very well.

My philosophy is to buy something form HF and if it breaks, replace it with a high quality items.

Yes, Harbor Fright made this easy, as they routinely send PDF copies of receipts. It is surprising how much you can spend on tools over a five year period. Looks like the best option is the gift card for 30% of all receipts if you kept them. As Rowdie says the attorneys get a big slice of the pie, and individual participation in any class action is voluntary. If fewer people participate the payout is higher to those who do... this one is about $23 million total divided by who knows how many claims? I'm likely to file if I can dig up all those PDFs.

This piqued my interest. I keep records in Quicken and
it shows I spent almost $1800 over that period - not counting
my cash purchases.

I just sent in just the summary from Quicken.
If that don't work I'll data mine my email for those
Harbor Freight emails.

Attorneys probably get at least 25 to 30% of that $23 million.............
