I suppose, if one wanted to calculate the number of gallons, one could: approx 900ftsq, 1" water... I guarantee its a bunch!

finished basement, water heater, braided steel flex hoses... Guess what happens when one ruptures... Ah, hell, i done gone and give it away.

yup, instant indoor swimming pool. Now, where's my rubber duckie?

Now, for the facts: Installed new heater a few years ago. Used braided stainless steel flex hoses to make connections (18" long). Went down to the basement today (where the laundry is located, among other things) and VIOLA! One of the hoses had ruptured and was spraying a fine stream against the wall. Floor drains helped, but did not eliminate the flood.

Like the title sez, check them hoses (if used), and include your washing machine for kicks.

That is all...

Laundry hoses = 5 years.

I install a lot of appliances after people move in to their homes.

I will NOT re-use hoses.

And 5 minutes after I posted............Nobette informs me that the washer is "making a funny noise".

Pulled the back off and one of the front load washer mounts is busted. Chinese plastic, of course.

You think the EPC is hard to navigate.......try sourcing this part!

repairclinic.com is where I usually start.

I get the part number, and then I can start shopping for the best source for it.

They have exploded drawings and fairly readable parts lists.

Good luck,
Scott

Worst I ran into at work started with a call that there was a water leak in the attic and the bedroom ceiling was falling...

Of course my first thought was that there were no water lines in the attic???

Unlike yours, water heater supply had failed completely, shooting a full stream through the ceiling drywall in the utility room then back down through the bedroom ceiling. :crying

I HATE water heaters in the attic. Some friends of ours moved into a new house and we were walking through the house next door which was under construction. It had the water heater way up there and the geniuses that built the place framed in the hole for the attic access stairs smaller than the water heater! I guess it'll just stay up there forever even after it quits.
