I hope this doesnt appear as spam (since I am the seller), but I wanted to extend to my fellow SLKers this deal...I have sold nearly 200 of these units and have heard nothing but the best in regards to their functionality and performance. I am selling the PLUS unit which includes all US maps on an SD card (way better than CDs!) for the same price as the normal one sold in stores.

For anyone on this forum who wants one, I will sell them direct for $715 (w/free shipping). Just email me at [email protected]

Sorry again if these seems like spam, but I am truely trying to help those who have helped me.

Its cool man i'll give you that but far 2 expensive for what you get. The new technology is out and cheap. The new gps nav's are like $200 and look and sound a lot better than the one you are offering.

And I am usually standing alone in my ideas and oppinions I am use to it. I am not the norm and I dont agree with the general public. Thats what makes me different and better than everyone else lol.

I just got my wife a Palm Tungsten T5 for about $350. It has blue tooth capability and you can add a blue tooth GPS for about $300 with the maps. so for $650 you could have the same nav system plus a great Palm Pilot. Just another alternative.

How about some specifics, e.g., make, model, specs, price.

do some research first. Thats rated as the best portable nav system compared to the Magellan 700/300 and the Garmin 2610/2620.

and here is proof:

I definitely support Alan-hes providing an excellent unit for under $120 MSRP.

Alan, that is a great unit. I agree it is the highest rated and has features beyond most others (gyroscopic sensor, etc.. The price is a little high though as you can find those online for $599.

I purchased the Navman instead since it was only $300. The feature difference didn't justify the price in my case.

Alan, that's a good deal

I was tracking [:)] the TomToms for a while when I found them on www.gpspassion.com about a year or so ago. I don't think everyone here realizes what model you are talking about, the TomTom Go Plus, not the Go, not the Palm version. The best price I've seen before this is about $785 and self-proclaimed super low prices of $880.

I think I'd compare the Go and Go Plus more with the Garmin Quest than the Garmin 2610, although feature-wise, it certainly stands up. I have my own reasons for going with the Garmin 2620 but I have to admit, one of those is that the TomTom was not available in the states at the time.

Now, Deathy, since you decided to let us know that you are bit out of touch with reality, at least on this topic, and in a rather rude way, why on earth would being a "computer guy" make you an expert on gadgets and gizmos? I can see on things that are specifically related to what you do, but beyond that...[:I] I would think that an expert on GPS gizmos for example would be able to tell me what an almanac and an ephemeris are and what they are used for and know what at least half of the following are - DGPS, AGPS, WAAS, AFLT, TOA, ETOA, psuedorange, DOP [we could go for HDOP, GDOP, and VDOP] without having to look them up... [:D][8D] Just having some fun with you, Deathy, but man, sometimes you really do have to think first[;)]

You can get a 512MB card at Compuplus, newegg, or buy.com for around $45. That should fit more than half of the US and Canada wich should be more than enough for most people.

If you want to install the entire US and Canada you'll need a 1GB card. Those are slightly more but usually run around $69.

If you factor in the free shipping your offering and assume the person would buy a 1GB card anyway, there right about where your selling the TomTom Plus at so not a bad deal. Definetly below the standard retail price.
