Remember the downshift jerking in the ML transmissions ?

quote: One problem we’ve been unable to fix thus far is the six-speed automatic’s tendency to slam into first gear when the car is gently braking to a stop. Online forums are filled with current- and previous-generation 7-series owners with the same complaint, but there’s no clear solution. One of our more dramatic staffers likens the feeling to being rear-ended by a Geo Metro. We complained about the disconcerting downshift when we dropped off the 750Li for its second service, at 34,692 miles, but the problem is intermittent, and the dealer technicians were unable to reproduce it. So, for the time being, it looks like we’re stuck with occasionally being rear-ended by a Geo Metro.

There is a cure for this but it is very expensive as it will need a new valve body and torque converter.

A problem which remains unfixed after 10 yrs points to a basic design flaw instead of a

maintenance issue.

Doesn't MB and BMW share the same transmission tech ?
