My c220 has such an imprecise Fuel level indicator that it already left me stranded twice in the middle of the road. Once when it said that there was 1/4 gas left and another time when it said a little less than 1/2 gas left. Fortunately the previous owner told me about this, so I had a tank of gas with me the fiirst time, and today I was lucky enough to make it to a gas station although the car was making weird noises, and barely made it going like 5mph.
This guy who sold me the car, used to be a mechanic at MB and told me something about this car having 2 different tanks and that the gas between them doesn't pass by sometimes.
I think the solution is simpler than that. A stuck floater in the tank. In fact when I fuel up, it takes a while for the indicator to start going down. About 2 days. Which is about a 1/4 tank . SO that would have explained why the first time the car stopped when it said 1/4 left. It really was all gone but the floater in the tank didn't go down all the way or something.
Might be an issue related to the wiring harness...
Anyways, just wanted to know if anybody has had the same issue, and if yes, how they resolved it,
Thanks,
Dario

Here's an idea to keep you from running out of gas... pay attention to the mileage in your trip meter and fill up at like 275-280 miles... I usually fill up at about 325-340 miles... but to be safe I would do it sooner.

Thanks for the hint. I would do that. Unfortunately my ABS speed sensor is broken so my abs and my speedometer and trip odometers are out or order. I already ordered trhe new abs speed sensor though.

Your car needs a new sending unit in the gas tank. Never heard about the 2 tank thing... How many gallons does it hold.

I think he may be referring to the reserve tank.

Same concern I have of my 202. Though it has not given me the same misfortune you've had but I'm just irritated to note it's impreciseness....
