The W123 is badass. The Volvos can't hold the turns nearly as well.

Very cool videos. :) Two questions:
(1) In the first video, the W123 is blowing ALOT of black and white smoke. Isn't that a really bad sign of engine problems?
(2) In Tucson, I constantly see W123s AND those damn Volvo look-alikes. What is the story behind that? Did Volvo copy the MB design? The body panels and rear look remarkably similar. 200 feet away, I can't be sure if I'm looking at a W123 or Volvo.

we are simply bias

You can't see it because of the smoke, all of those fancy-pants asian cars are spinning like tops, the volvos can't hold their own, but while it looks like the w123 is doing so well, it actually isn't. We just want to see that- there is sooooo much smoke coming out of the back of that car we can't see the 12 man crew the driver hired to push the car back onto the track when he spins out, and pick up all the cones and barrels when he throws them half a mile like the other guys. We have to just ask ourselves, is this quality driving of a quality vehicle- or just an underhanded attempt to win at all costs no matter how difficult it may be to get a diesel merc to spin circles around asian aftermarket toys?

ok there may be bias on the part of the videographer- i.e. he left out all the videos of the w123 spinning or the other cars doing well- that we cant know.

however from the video we CAN see, the w123 is SO clearly kicking butt. its carrying much higher speed through the drifts and much more control.

Black soot=unburnt fuel so this guy messed with his fuel delivery system (injectors, and pump) :D

And the "white" smoke is from the tires burning...

Surely that ain't no diesel, no freakin way...

Prove me wrong otherwise, but that motor is turning at at least 6000 rpm. Not a turbo'ed 280E, perhaps?
