.....and have a few questions.
1) this is probably a stupid question but considering I still have the #14 head and I'm paranoid about temp, can someone tell me what the temp range is? Meaning is the segment that I usually run in 80-90C, then the next segment (not numbered) 90-100C, and finally the tiny final segment between the white and the red 100-120C?? My temp fluctuates between 80 and the next white dash but never goes above that. Came close to rising above that a month ago, so I replaced water pump and fan clutch.
2) when it rains, I have a leak that comes out of my far rear passenger column light. I have cleaned the trash from the old weather stripping around the gate hatch but didn't solve issue. I know I probably have clogged drain tubes but have had no luck finding them on my wagon or by searching the forum. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help.

You're on the right track with the temps. 100-120c is abnormal but not damaging.

I would check the hatch seal again, if it is damaged water can get through.

Trying to post a few pics to better describe my issues. Is my temp in the pic 88C or closer to 98C?

If temps are still high, do the $25 t-Stat.
I had same issues, and that and a condenser cleaning fixed it. (@ 275k I can guarantee there is junk in there on the bottom where you cant see.

I would read that as 95C and that is the highest I have seen on our W124 while driven hard in 100F weather and no engine fan.
Troubleshoot the system, but aging radiators often have internal build ups that lowers the efficiency. Suppose dealers have good stuff for radiator flush, but in the past I replaced several radiators on different brands due the buildups.
