Went in to Mittler Motors last week to have strut mounts installed, they said come back next Thursday... so I never found out.

Newmarket - Benz repai

If anyone is still looking for a repair shop for their MB in Newmarket area, Fortech on Gorham comes highly recommended. I was referred to them through a relative who has been taking all Five of his Benz's there for many years and I plan to as well after testing the waters for a simple headlight change. Quick, friendly and helpful. Glad I found a nearby indie for my new Benz.

Cheers.

Did you go back to Fortech ? What was your experience ? I'm looking for some service work when I get my SL out of storage...so just planning ahead

Thanks

@stclarke,
Fortech is great - but I haven't done anything more than a quick headlight change and oil. Service was great for the visit and I expect them to be my future mechanic.

I went back to Fortech for a service (really just an oil change) and my experience was mixed. I overpaid for the service (which was refunded) and there was a small leak from the drain plug which was corrected. I was mildly annoyed that I had to go back for these concerns.
At the end of the day, I didn't save much by not going to MB Newmarket b/c the cost of the synthetic oil is so expensive for 9L. And you also lose the courtesy car/shuttle and also have to go with MB approved oil, but it's not Mobil1 nor is it recommended for 20k/1year - so in the end I'm probably going to be short $ if I perform the next service within the year.

Decided to do the tranny service with MB since the difference again was negligible. The cost of the transmission fluid (synthetic, also 9L) alone is $200 (even online) the filter is preferably OE and there is also a recall on the wiring harness that Benz is taking care of and obviously wouldn't have been done by an indie mechanic.... I will pick & choose services going forward depending on the nature and estimated quotes.

That all said, Fortech was friendly, fast and still fully expect to deal with them for brakes and other services that I can order parts online and does not require special MB attention.

So, if anyone has any other recommendations in the York Region area, I'm all ears (or eyes: online ;-) ?.
Again, Fortech receives my endorsement. However, picky enthusiasts with online research capabilities for recalls and repairs need to always choose wisely for their own best interests.

In between Mitler and Fortech in the same complex is a shop called "LNER" which has done both my routine service and repairs (major & minor) for many years now.

It's owned by a British master mechanic who really knows his way around a motor. He specializes in high end antique car restorations, but does routine stuff as well. The one thing I like is that he has a vast array of sources of high end aftermarket parts, no offshore junk, dealer parts only as a last resort.

I checked out the website for all 3...

Mittler seems to specialize in VW/Audi
LNER seems to specialize int British cars
and Fortech (from their website) seems to be a generalist

I'm hunting for a good mechanic for my CDI.... I'm guessing that Mittler will have more diesel experience ??

NV Euro just opened up in Newmarket on Leslie at Gorham, right before you turn towards those other shops. I brought the Benz to them for brakes at their Hwy7 shop, great place. Trustworthy and knowledgable - they hire master MB mechanics.

Don't go to Fortech for your Euro car. I sold the Benz, but I would still be heading to NV if I had one. Talk to Nim

Thanks - checked out their website, looks promising. Interesting that they also tune CDI engines...

Going to book an appointment with NV Euro. They quoted about $100 to diagnose the check engine light that has been on for about a week. My wife wanted to use the dealer as we do all of our service there (or did)... called up MB, they quoted $290 and said they could only perform the diagnosis Monday to Thursday... Which is really inconvenient for us. I hope NVEuro does a good job... otherwise when it comes to replacing our Merc I'll really have to consider other vehicles if I can't get service that fits our schedule or quality.

Fingers crossed for NVEuro.

Hey blkLAB370, just wondering how your service went with NV Euro Newmarket?

I have a 2012 ML350 Blutec due for Service A & B. Thinking of dropping it off at NV Euro.

Much appreciated!
