Dear all,
Thanks for your time.
My CLS 250 CDI, C218, engine OM651, recently has a problem of intake manifold leaking issue.
I called a dealer, and they claim the manifold itself will cost me $1500,not to mention labour. I contacted other auto repair stores, but none seems interested. So I decide to do this by myself.
I remove some parts, including the vacuum reservior and EGR cooling part, but now i am stuck here to remove the EGR unit.
There is so little space to operate (indicated in red circle in picture 2), and it seems impossible to let anyone's hand go in and do the job. Even if someone removes the bolts, and how can one tighten them up ?
So heres my questions , 1 What do you guys do to reach these bolts, any tools ? or do I need to remove the fire proof wall to get more space or i need to do it from under.
Is there any video i can follow? I watched most videos in youtube but none of them are specific enough.
Thank you guys in advance, it would be much appreciated!

Just done same job on the w212 om651. Use 1/4” drive with a short E10 socket will fit into that tight space. At the first sight it seems not possible. When remove EGR pipe on the EGR valve, do not try to reach the bolt from the top. Try to reach from front of the car, it will give you the right angle. Use small 1/4 drive torque wrench to tighten it up again. No need to remove firewall. Just squeeze it when you turn your wrench. It can be done. The WIS instruction is sufficient.

in fact, I changed the oil cooler as well, since it develops leaking and the intake needs to be removed anyway.

Hi All,

Just for reference. On my 2009 C250 OM651 when installing the New Manifold with actuator motor from Mercedes. The Actuator requires calibration / setting up using Star diagnostics. Otherwise comes up with fault "Charge movement flap (Cylinder, Bank 1) is jammed or there is a mechanical issue.
