I have a om352a in my motorhome... I start it and the tempature rises pretty fast.. Usually goes up to 250f within the first 10 mns..well that's what the the temp gauage reads ... I changed the thermastat. Same thing happens... I ran it with no thermastat and for the first time the radiator got warm...
My best guess is the temp sensor is bad or maybe the gauge
Any ideas?

Get an IR meter and see how hot she is really getting.

Take measurments from several areas. If you have an inside dog house.... remove it... and have a co pilot shoot readings while driving.

Pretty much gurantee it's a bad gauge!

I installed a mechanical temp gauge and it has been pretty steady at 190
