Hi all, found some numbers today that hopefully mean something to someone....its fitted in a boat with marine heat exchangers, bilge fittings etc....if anyone knows what these numbers mean I would be eternally grateful..............here goes

OM352
352-900-002-515237
B92
DIN 6270
2800

Engine is 6 cylinders, non turbo, ( I was told it gave out 120HP)

Non continuous is saying that the engine can develop X amount of power at full output, but that it is not recommended to operate the engine for any extended period at that output. Otherwise you engine life expectancy will be much lower than normal.

Think drag cars! The engine is only good for a couple runs at the insane outputs they achieve.

So how long is continuous ... so if you put this in a mog and drove it for 1-2 hours at 2800 rpm, would that be ok? Or are they talking about 24/7/365 like a generator.

I'm guessing if it's used for a bilge pump, it wouldn't be used a lot.

What does "NONE continuous power" mean? That you shouldn't put it in a mog?
Yes as KC says,

Typically “DIN 6270 A” is used in e.g. fishing boats or other “working” boats/ships wile “DIN 6270 B” is for e.g. pleasure craft where power delivery is more varied and short term vs. the former that may spend days or even weeks at full power.

mog engines are continuous power rated like DIN 6270 A

The duty cycle would be published in the engine manual or the standardized documents relating to the type of rating.

But it can be a few seconds or a few minutes. Just depends.

As for putting it in a mog, it would be fine. The rating is placed on this type of engine due to its type of constant load. A mog driving down the road is not working at full output. RPM's are not generally part of the duty cycle per se.

Now if you were climbing a never ending hill and it required full power, you can and likely would exceed the duty cycle of the engine.

Make since?

My dad has a pair of 321's in his boat... i'll get some piccies up here soon.

They're BIG... especially when bolted to the gearbox (1:1 ratio i think, with just forward or reverse, and neutral)

These engines were in the boat when it was built back in the '60s.... they have consecutive serial numbers too

mogless, except for my friends MB4-94. And a bunch of other diesel junk.

From story swapping with friends in Kodiak, AK, fishing boats are either running full tilt, or docked. I imagine that engine is designed to run full against the governor for days on end.

Hi all, thanks for everyone replying...not sure what a lot of it meant though. The engine drives the boat along ( not soley a bilge pump). Thye boat is 32 foot long heavy displacement wooden motor vishing vessel weighing about 7-8 tonnes roughly.
I was hoping to find out engines age, if the 120HP was right, and perhaps hoped someone had some documentation regarding the marine modifications that are present on my engine. For example the filter is upside down on mine. The boat was nearly sank last week so I need to source starter parts, get an alternator, re do wiring, change fan belts etc etc so any info on the engine makes getting parts easier.
At this point I have no idea of what oil to put in her? its just a big lovely engine without any technical info whatsoever. Every single place I have been to to get parts all scratch their heads and look vauge.

Once again thanks to one and all, by the way any brits on here with any good suppliers to recommend then please get in touch.

From my source, it looks like that engine was sold as a loose engine an was not specifically outfitted for marine applications. And assuming the engine has not been tampered with, it should produce 125HP according to its build notes.

I would assume its governed at 2800rpm

You can order an engine book from Mercedes For this engine to give you maintenance help etc. I have one in my glove box. It about the size of a vehicle manual.

As for parts today, many if not most should be available from Mercedes or if you like Unimog parts suppliers.

The marine specific parts are likely custom to some degree and will new to be sourced from marine parts and repair shops.

I know my dad had a devils own job trying to source some bits for his... the oil cooler plates and a cylinder head (dropped an injector nozzle I think)

He ended up getting some stuff from Europe i think, even someone in India had some bits. There wasn't much here in the UK for his (321) engine... yours may be different?
