Hello fellow mercedes enthusiasts,

Since ac compressor on my G400 had a catastrophic failiure and i had to tear down whole front end anyway, I decided to change engine timing chain and guides as well. Since i dont have factory manual, i wanted to be sure about the correct position of timing marks. Is it supposed to be so, that if camshaft marks are aligned(push-in pins could ho go through holes in camshaft gear on the left and right cylinder bank), the crankshaft marks should be at 0T position? And what about the balance shaft markings? Do the dot need to be at 12 a clock or 6 a clock position?
Alignement with the old chain was 15 degrees with cam markings aligned. But now, with new chain it is exactly 0t position. Is this correct?

I finally got myself access to wis documentation. I leave the diagrams about timing here for other diy enthusiasts.

Looks like this engine's the balance shaft markings should be about 12 a clock position while other marks aligned.
Unfortunately i put it to 6 a clock position😬. So i need to open it up again and redo the balance shaft timing. Wondering if i need to buy all opened seals/gaskets again?

Hi again,
I finally recieved my rebuilt bosch cp3 high pressure pump and i was hoping to get everything back together. Unfortunately I run to a next confusing point. According to a wis, the highpressure pump's main shaft has a "0" marking that should match up with marking(small bore)on the gear that rotates the pump. Wis claims that this gear is with imbalance masses to rule out vibrations inside the pump.
Now, when i look at my intermediate gear, i see no such mark on the gear.
Could there be a change or some updates/ modifications with this gear?

As you can see, there is no marking of imbalance point like on wis documents. Whad do you guys think? Could i just put the pump back without worrying about imbalance?
