Hi,

I tried 2 different sets of used/like new winter tires that people are selling near me for my 01 Mercedes C320. The tire size is 205/55/16. But, the c320 FACTORY BOLTS can't tighten these rims/tires. It looks like the FACTORY bolts are too BIG for the new rims/tires.

Can I just buy new BOLTS or ? If so, what BRAND?

Thank You

SRY, the original C320 lug bolts are too long. The bolts fit the new rims/tires, but there is too much wiggle room between the rims/tires and the car( the unit where the brakes are and where the tires attach to).

Yes you can buy bolts, there are various sizes. If your original wheels are alloy and you are putting steel on you want the short bolts for steel rims,DO NOT use longer bolts as you will rip your handbrake shoes to bits.

You need to use the shorter lug bolts. You'd use two and half inch long lug bolts with the aluminum MB wheels. You have to use the shorter one and half inch lug bolts or two inch long lug bolts with the after market wheels. Try the 2inch long bolts and see how they fit.

The spare tire [with steel rim] requires the one and half inch lug bolts.

I had this problem when mouting steel winter rims. The steel rims require shorter bolts. There are many suppliers. HOWEVER. your rims are alloy also so I am surprised that the flange is that much thinner than the stock wheels. Are you sure that the bolts are that much too long? One problem I had was that the car was 5 years old running only stock alloy wheels. The hub thread was a bit rusted out and while I did buy shorter bolts they screwed in an extra 1/8 of an inch and hit the rusted threads. I had to get a tap to clean them out first. Are you sure that is not your problem?

If you do need shorter bolts, they are also the same for VW. part W0133-1642629
