It's not just the old farts who don't like this music. I personally hate the new hardcore rock crap. ie. mudvayne, system of a down, etc...it's just really loud guitar and some dude dressed up in a halloween costume screaming demonic chants at the top of his lungs.
I'd be interested in knowing how many of you "old" guys hate rap. And just like I hate the new rock, some people hate new rap. But I love it.

Rap is simply an updated version of Walter Brennan "singing" (actually just talking) "My Mule Old Rivers and Me". With a loud backup track and a lot of ghetto attitude and language thrown in for lack of imagination.[xx(]

I could get into that music Deathy. I like SoaD's sound, but the political slant in their lyrics turns me off.
I'm a fairly young guy, and I loathe rap. I think "nu" metal is ok, but it falls flat in comparison to the Scandinavian metal scene. I'm particularly fond of Finnish groups like Stratovarius and Nightwish.

The freakin awesome thing is I am picturing 25,000 people at Cricket Pavillion in arizona going freaking BAZERK and setting fires and have a 25,000 person mosh pit to that song. It just stirkes me as wicked!

Ditto. I have their Toxicity CD in my car, and the music makes me want to drive fast moreso than any other CD in my possession.

As an old fart[8D]I can say that I really can't stand cRAP, nor any other angry POS music. I am sticking to what I like best: THE CARS. It's as wild as I get.

] . I believe I qualfy as an old fart, and my musical tastes have changed quite a bit since my youth. I still identify with a lot of the 80's music I grew up on. I listen to a lot of popular alternative style along with that now. Rap I have to say, does turn me off.Not too bad Deathy, I can appreciate just about anything. Have always been a huge U2 which means you pretty much have to like Coldplay, Radiohead, The Doves, Elbow, Starsailor, etc. I, like Kuhl, do enjoy the 80's too, my IPod is full of that stuff.
Alright Kuhl.....I'll admit that I have listened to stuff like Green Day but I am more of a traditionalist and like the classics. A few years ago I probably would not have admitted to listening to Sinatra (no not Nancy)or Dean Martin but I do like a wide variety of music even some "New" country!It may come from my training in classical piano when I was very young.
