Well, on my 75 mile drive to work this morning, I decided I want to drop her. Handling, ride, and look are my reasons. Don't get me wrong I love the way she handles, but I was thinking by lowering her i'll feel a little more confident in cornering.

Here's the questoin:

What shocks/springs are the majority of you who have lowered your rides using? I want to keep as much of the "boulevard" ride I have now (I can enjoy sport driving with my CLK[8D]).

One more thing.... If anyone can point me in the direction of where to get a reasonable deal on the parts would be helpful too.....

Eibach, HR, Jamex used to make springs but not anymore (thats what I've read in other posts) there is one other company, but, can't find the thread. Anyway how low do you want to go? #1 spacers (or shims or whatever, 8mm ones) might be a major improvement depending on what you have installed already, also the "Heavy Duty" suspension isn't real sporty but its easy to install and makes a huge difference compared to the "comfort" suspension, other wise it looks like people are running HD Bilstien shocks with thier lowering springs...I posted just incase nobody else will...most people that own these cars don't modify them lol [8]

I'm switching to 23mm shims today, as the setup dropped it too low and my tires rub on big speed bumps or pot holes. BTW, I'm using 8" rims with 11ET. 7.5" with 25 ET wouldn't rub, imo. I was lucky to find the last pair of Jamex springs in the US (i think). Handling is much improved with the new springs. I'm currently using Bilstein comfort shocks but am switching to Bilstein HD's, as the ride seems too soft for my taste. They should be on my doorstep today!

I had done lower my W123 280E by following step.
1.used the rubber pad for spring thinkness around 0.5 inch as front and real.
2.Used shock up from W126 Bilstine Black 2 point marker.
3.All spring used original.
The result lower as picture.

Personally I think that the car can handle really well even with the rear end raised up, IMO its not a bad look and (what happened to me and why I don't like riding in lowered cars anymore) I got rearended by a 2000 f150 on the freeway and the truck went right over my bumper which left only sheet metal to protect me which was pretty scary. When I needed my bumper the most it was to low.

Anyway, heres a video of a w123 with a V8 in it competing in a drifting competition (the guy purposely made the car drift its not out of control), I like the look and it handles better than OK imo. Just a thought...
