Poking around under the ML320, getting ready to dig in in earnest on the suspension rebuild, and I noticed something that I hadn’t seen before. Namely, the inner left-hand rear CV joint boot is oily. There are no apparent cracks in the boot, nor is there any obvious evidence of a leak from the differential, either at the axle shaft or the housing seal.

Any thoughts on what to check first?

Wipe down the oil off the boot and monitor, if no other apparent leaks close by.
