Do the W210's have a low oil level sensor ? More precisely a 97 E320 ? I changed my oil yesterday and wanted to check for future reference if the cluster displayed anything when there was no oil in the motor. Turn the key on and nothing.

Battery connected?

Yes, M104 has oil level sensor (switch). About 3 inches in 1 o'clock direction looking at the drain plug.

Thanks Witek_M... I'll take a look the next time I drain the oil. In the mean time I'll check the connections and clean/grease the electrical pins.

Oil level switch works in reverse. With oil level correct switch is closed. Disconnect wire at sensor and take it for a spin. Warning comes on with 60 seconds delay.
