I wonder, which part of the sequence does it indicate it's going to the oil cooler?

Nice pic. Thanks. I was looking at the oil cooler lines a while ago.

Only the Germans could complicate running crap through a filter. [:D]

i think those fittings are clearly shown on the pic - you see right of 'c' is the lower and directly above and slightly to the right is the upper.

It seems after the oil gets into the canister it can go to filtering or to bypass. And by the diagram it seems to me that the bypassed oil goes to the lower hose while the filtered oil goes to the upper hose. But obviously they can't both go to either hoses, so I think the upper one is the "output" line going to the cooler, then back to the lower "input" line and back into the oil pan (C).

(just thinking out loud) [:D]
